Dear Parent/Guardian,
Welcome back, I hope you all had a lovely Summer holiday! Here are just a few details of some of our topics and timetable for the new school year.
Topics
This term we will be studying Traffic and Travel, particularly looking at the village of Glyn Ceiriog and assessing the impact of transport. We will also look back to the time of the Tramway. We will be studying, designing and making cars in DT and studying travel within art.
Swimming and PE
Swimming begins Friday 18th September for years 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. The cost for the bus is £2.50. Girls will need to have their hair tied back. This year, swimming will run slightly differently, the two junior classes will alternate each half term. So this class will swim each Friday until half term, then Mr Jones’ class will attend until Christmas, and so on until the end of summer.
PE will be held on Fridays (and Tuesdays during the term the pupils are NOT attending swimming lessons). Please provide your child with appropriate navy blue and white kit, and suitable trainers.
Homework/Reading/Spellings
Each Thursday children will be given two pieces of homework to be handed in complete the following Monday.
During the course of the week, we ask that children read at least three times and that you sign and possibly comment to record their reading. Children will be asked to show this evidence on a Monday morning.
Your child will be given a list of spellings made up of individual spelling mistakes and some common spelling patterns. Spellings will be tested each Monday morning.
Glan LLyn
The deposit for those pupils in year 5 and 6 who have shown an interest in the residential trip to Glan Llyn this spring is now due. To guarantee your child’s place please pay the deposit of £30 before mid October (cheques made payable to Ysgol Cynddelw). If you would like any more information about the trip, please feel free to pop in and see me.
YEAR 5/6 Forest Schools
Forest Schools will continue after half term. More details to follow nearer the time.
